Personal Trainer for Newcastle, WA

If you live in Newcastle and you’ve been putting up with back pain, low energy, or a body that doesn’t move the way it used to, you don’t have to drive far to do something about it. My studio sits in Renton, right down Coal Creek Parkway. For most of Newcastle that’s a ten to fifteen minute drive, no I-405 required.

I’m Tyler Greer. I run Shape & Strength Fitness with Katie Milne, and we coach adults who are tired of guessing. Some of the people I work with are in real pain and want it to stop. Others feel fine on paper but wake up drained, or watched a diet that used to work quit on them. Whatever brought you here, the plan is the same. We figure out what’s actually driving the problem, then train in a way that fixes the cause instead of chasing the symptom.

Close enough to make in-person training realistic

The reason a lot of Newcastle folks never stick with a trainer is the commute. You picture forty minutes of traffic each way and the whole thing dies before it starts. From Newcastle proper, whether you’re near Coal Creek, Lake Boren, or up by the golf course, the studio at 2525 Aberdeen Ave NE is a short hop down the hill into Renton. Close enough that a real session fits into a normal weekday.

If in-person still isn’t your thing, or your schedule is unpredictable, I coach online too. Same assessment, same plan, delivered so you can train from home and check in with me between sessions. Plenty of my Newcastle clients do a mix of both.

What makes this different

I’m a Master CHEK Practitioner, one of fewer than 200 worldwide, and a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner. In plain terms, I don’t just hand you a workout. I look at how you move, how you eat, how you sleep, and how you handle stress, because those four things drive almost everything people come to me for. That framework is called the Four Doctors, and it’s the reason my clients stop spinning their wheels.

Katie brings the movement side, with in-person personal training and Pilates-inspired strength that’s gentle on the joints and honest about where you’re starting from. If you want to read more about how two coaches on your case actually helps, we wrote about the two-coach advantage.

The problems I help Newcastle clients with

Most people find me for one of these:

  • Nagging back or neck pain: the kind that comes from a desk, a phone, and years of the same posture. Corrective exercise can change how you sit and stand. If a desk job is wrecking your lower back, start with this piece on desk-related back pain.
  • Rounded shoulders and a forward head: the shirt fits fine, but you look tight and feel it. That pattern has a name and a fix, and I walk through it in upper crossed syndrome.
  • Low energy that sleep doesn’t fix: you get eight hours and still drag by two in the afternoon. That’s usually a signal, not a character flaw. Here’s my take on being tired even after a full night.
  • Getting stronger later in life: if you’re in your fifties, sixties, or beyond and want to train without hurting yourself, that’s some of my favorite work.

No medical claims here. I don’t diagnose or treat anything. What I do is coach the movement, the training, and the daily habits that let your body work better.

How it works

  1. We talk first. You book a free discovery call. I ask what’s going on and what you’ve already tried, and I tell you honestly whether I’m the right fit.
  2. We assess. Before any program, I look at how you move and where the real limits are. Nothing gets prescribed blind.
  3. Phase 1: Rebuild. We fix the foundation, calm the pain down, and get you moving and feeling better.
  4. Phase 2: Sustain. Once you’re solid, you keep going through the Alumni membership or a la carte sessions, whatever fits your life.

If a phone call feels like a lot, take one of my free self-checks. There are two short quizzes. One looks at your movement and strength, the other at the root-cause health stuff behind low energy, poor sleep, and stalled progress. You’ll get a read on where you stand, and there’s zero pressure to book anything.

A note on pricing

I coach in phases, so you’re not signing up for something open-ended. Phase 1 Rebuild is the initial coaching block. After that, staying on through the Alumni membership runs $275 a month, or you can train a la carte at $175 a session, with a re-assessment at $300 when it’s time to reset the plan. We go over all of it on the call so you know exactly what you’re deciding on. We also have solid five-star reviews on Google if you want to see what people say.

Questions Newcastle folks ask

Do you have a studio in Newcastle?

No. My only studio is in Renton, at 2525 Aberdeen Ave NE. For most of Newcastle it’s a ten to fifteen minute drive down Coal Creek Parkway. If coming to the studio isn’t practical, I also coach online so you can train from home.

How far is the studio from Newcastle?

Close. Depending on where in Newcastle you’re starting, you’re looking at a short drive into the north end of Renton, usually well under fifteen minutes without touching the freeway. Call me at (425) 584-6065 if you want to talk through the route.

Can I train with you online instead of driving in?

Yes. Online coaching is a full option, not a downgrade. You get the same assessment and a program built for you, delivered so you can train at home with check-ins between sessions. Some clients do online only, some mix it with studio visits.

I’m in my sixties and haven’t trained in years. Is that a problem?

Not at all. A lot of my work is with people starting later in life. We assess where you are, start where it’s safe, and build from there. If you want a sense of the approach, read starting strength training at 50, 60, or 70.

What happens on the discovery call?

We talk about what’s going on and what you’ve tried, I explain how I’d approach it, and I tell you honestly if I’m the right coach for you. No pressure, no pitch. You can book it here.
